CEPU AUSTRALIA POST BULLETIN No.2

The CEPU strongly urges that all technical staff follow all Australia Post sponsored SOPs and STIs. This direction is given to support Australia Post management in their resolve to provide Australia Post employees with a safe and healthy workplace.

To achieve this all SOPs and STIs must be implemented to ensure your own personal safety and the safety of your fellow workmates.

Examples of how work should be carried out follows:

  • All LOTO levels must be applied, i.e. if LOTO requires a powering down of the area to be worked on. Power it down.

  • If a mechanical aid or two-man lift is required use the aid or get someone to assist you.

  • If you are required to reach beneath the bedplate where hazardous voltage are present, i.e. clearing primary pickoff jams on the MLOCR, LOTO level 3 applies. Power it down to protect yourself as directed by Australia Post.

  • When required always apply your personal danger tags and move the staff away from the machine until you return the machine to service. Strictly apply LOTO as detailed in Australia Post’s policy documents.

  • As recommended by EnergySafe power the equipment down to protect yourself while working on it.
